Why Should We Wear a Helmet on Motorcycle?

There are many people especially young people do not like wearing their helmet while riding motorcycle. Do they know that motorcycle does not provide the structural protection that a car does? In my opinion, we should wear a helmet while riding motorcycle because of some reasons.

First, wearing a helmet belongs to a law. Most countries have laws that require a rider and the passenger to wear helmets. Some countries require riders and passengers ages 18 and under to wear a helmet. However, other countries have motorcycle helmet laws for riders of all ages. Police will stop riders without helmets and warn them. Some states either seize or suspend the driver license of the riders who are not wearing a helmet. Then, they will get fined.

Second, wearing a helmet reduces the risk of head injuries. The head and brain is most vulnerable to injury in a motorcycle accident. Riders who do not wear helmets are at risk of suffering a traumatic brain and head injuries if they are in an accident. Motorcycle helmets reduce the risk of head injury by 69 persen and reduce the risk of death by 42 persen .

Third, wearing a helmet protects you from road debris. Helmets can protect you from debris that flies up from the road such as dirt, rocks, and gravel. They can also protect you against tree branches, low hanging signs, and other objects. In other words, wearing a helmet can protect your eye, teeth, and face

Instead of influencing your style, wearing a helmet gives you many benefits. It increases your own and other motorcyclist's safety. Therefore, you should wear your helmet when you ride motorcycle and fasten it in order to get safe on the road.
