Why Texting While Walking is Dangerous

Today many people cannot be separated from their gadget, especially their smartphones. More people use their smartphones or hand-held devices while walking on the pavement and crossing roads. I think it is dangerous for some reasons.

First, texting is one of the reasons people are distracted while walking. Walking requires your brain to process visual information, while also controlling your feet and legs. In some ways, you're already multitasking when you walk, so adding your phone to the mix makes things really difficult. You're more likely to trip, bump into something or someone, twist your ankle, or step into traffic if you're distracted while you walk. They can cause cuts, bruishes, sprains, and even fractures.

Second, a number of accidents involving distracted pedestrians are rising. People who text while walking may face an accident. A study, published in the journal Injury Prevention, found that smartphone texting is linked to compromised pedestrian safety, with higher rates of "near misses" and failure to look left and right before crossing a road. Distracted walking may well be playing a role in that increasing death toll.

From the reasons above, it can be concluded that texting while walking is dangerous because it belongs to distracted walking. The pedestrian deaths are on the rise has proven that distraction from texting while walking can cause pedestrians to cross roads very unsafely.
