Leopards
Leopards are member of the Felidae family. They are the smallest of the four big cats in the genus Panther. The other three are tiger, lion, and jaguar. Leopards can be found across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to South Africa.
Leopards have short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but it is smaller and more slightly built. Its fur is marked with rosettes which are smaller and more densely packed as jaguars have.
Leopards can run at speeds about 58 km/hour. Male leopards are larger than females. Male leopards weigh 30-91 kg, and female leopards weigh 23-60 kg. Leopards are nocturnal animals, meaning they are active at night. During the day, they rest in thick brush or in trees. Leopards are solitary, preferring to live alone. They are very agile and good swimmers.
